Panel 8: Critical Voices - Feminist Perspectives in the Role of the Information Society in Fostering Human Development

Event 8 of 12
Prev-Next

When: Thursday 11 December, 1000-1200

Where: Conference Room 7, Hall 4, Palexpo, Geneva

This panel attempts to provide creative simulation to encourage dialogue about a realm of possibility. If women were in control of shaping the Information Society, what changes would result? Panellists are encouraged to examine issues such as ethical dimensions in the development and use of ICT4D, pluralism and diversity. This provides a very valuable opportunity to tackle age-old questions about what gives rise to gender differences, and to ascertain whether these variations still hold true in the information and communication world. The panel will be encouraged to examine themes such as policy, access, global governance and accountability, citizenship, ownership and control and power relations.
