Savitri Bisnath is the head of the Youth and Gender Unit in the development sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Prior to joining the ITU, she worked for the South Centre, where she provided technical advice on the General Agreement on Trade in Services to delegations to the World Trade Organization. She has authored several publications, and is the editor of Global Tensions: Opportunities and Challenges in the World Economy (Routledge, 2004) and the Gender and Development Reader Vols. I & II (Edward Elgar, 2001). Bisnath has worked in a consultative capacity with UNDP, UNCTAD and UNIFEM, as well as several philanthropic organizations and NGOs. She holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University, and has two nationalities: Trinidad and Tobago and United States of America.
