Second Africa Regional Preparatory Conference, Accra, Ghana

The Conference, with the theme: "Access - Africa's key to an inclusive Information Society", the Conference was based on six overarching themes: policies/strategies, infrastructure, ICTs in socio-economic development, Internet Governance, indicators, and financing mechanisms. It also followed-up on the outcome of the first phase of the Summit, held in December 2003, in Geneva, and launched regional preparations for the second phase, to be held in November 2005, in Tunis.

A series of pre-conference workshops were organized prior to the Conference, from 28 January to 1 February 2005. The objective of these workshops was to bring together various stakeholders to discuss key aspects of Africa's Information Society and develop concrete proposals and their implementation.
