Advocacy & Lobbying

Advocacy and lobbying are at the core of the WSIS Gender Caucusís (GC) mission. On the one hand the GC facilitates gendered perspectives based on diverse experiences from around the world, especially the experiences of girls and women and how these differ from those of boys and men, with reference to the Information Society that is built on widespread empowerment. And on the other, through advocacy and lobbying, the GC works to ensure that these contributions and perspectives are represented in the WSIS process and in its outcomes, by integrating gender equity and womenís rights as a cross-cutting principle throughout.

In this area of our site, you will find numerous documents and descriptions that the Caucus has developed, beginning with the statement from Bamako, Mali, at the African Regional Preparatory Conference where the GC was first formed in May 2002. In addition, other tools and ideas for advocacy and lobbying are available, and we encourage you to use and share them. Please check this area regularly, as it is regularly updated with new materials.
